Elizabeth Comes Back to a Sheriff--Chapter 2 Continued

James was thinking about Liz a lot, so he decided to call her.  She didn't answer. But why would she?  He thought.  James kept going over everything that had happened between them and what he'd done to her.  It didn't look like he even had a chance of being an option for her.  James was chief of police, which meant he knew of every crime in his little town.
He loved that everyone respected him now, even though they knew he had hurt Liz badly.  They didn't know exactly what he had done and he was glad, because no one would ever respect his authority anymore.  James grunted.  He'd thought that he'd be able to sneak his way into her heart easily.  But that isn't going to happen.  He snorted at the thought and shook his head.
Well I'll take my time, make her want me and show her a real man wouldn't run from a child.  He        thought to himself.
James smiled at the thought of Collin.  The boy looked a lot like Liz.  The same big brown eyes and dark skin tone.  Collin had sandy blonde hair, which was definitely not from his mother, but all the came you could tell that Liz was the boy's mother.
Collin was easier to communicate with than Liz.  I'll be darn if I was just gonna give up now.  I'm sheriff for crists sake.  I need to get a grip.  James called Liz once more, but there was still no answer.

Elizabeth Comes Back to a Sheriff--Chapter 2

The talk about the weather, ranching, and Collin lasted the rest of the time until they got to James's place.  Liz held her breath and waited.  "See ya later Richie.  Collin you take care of that pretty little thing that is your mom. Understand?" James said as he got out of the truck.
Collin nodded and said "I will Mr. ...er..uh.. James." Liz smiled, she was glad she had taught her boy manners, unlike James.  Although it got tough raising a young boy alone she didn't want to share the responsibility with anyone else.  They pulled out of James's drive way and Richie headed towards what was once Liz's grandmother's place, but now is something she can call her's besides Collin.  Liz knew she'd have ranch hands waiting, but didn't think to have so many.
"Hi Ms. Eversaw."  A tall blonde man said with his rough hand out.  The man looked worn out but friendly with kind Hazel eyes.  Liz took his hand and said "Please call me Liz."  The guy nodded.  "Well we'll let you and the little boy settle in."  And with the wave of his hand, the men headed back to work.  "Thank you um...I don't believe I caught your name."  Liz and the man smiled.  It's Hank"
Liz thanked Hank again and then he was off to go work.  It was surprising to Liz how the working hands had stayed, even though grams had died about a year and a half ago.  Liz had wanted to come back earlier, to gram's ranch when she had died, but her Aunt Bella kept coming up with reasons for Liz to stay at their ranch.
Liz hadn't forgotten how much she loved the sights and smells of the open, but it had been a while since she could relax and enjoy it.  She wouldn't and couldn't give up the ranch for anything, except her son.  Liz decided she was going to go for a ride on her horse Stardust around the ranch to become familiar with the surroundings again, the next day.  She ushered Collin inside and let him pick out a room other than gram's.  Collin chose the room with horses, cowboys, and Native Americans on the walls, which had been her dad's room when he was little.

Life, Love, and Happiness

How do we know when we feel it?  How do you know when you're in love?  How can you tell he's the one with all those doubts swimming around?  Do you just sense it and feel great about it? Or do you get disoriented when you're around him?  How can you tell you're happy and that your life is good? How do you know what you have and how can you tell if it's what you want?  Does anyone even know the answers until they've actually found the one?  Or is that a lie about only actually loving one person with all your heart?  My mind throw's these questions at me and I stop and think.."Is this really what i want to do with my life?"...  I continue without a word but that question burns bright inside of me, building walls up around me safely and securly...Can I actually do this? Can I go on and keep telling myself to stop? But what if i get stuck? Then I'll be alone again...I think I'm crazy, but then again so are u.

Hi

My feelings get jumbled up and i don't know what to say or do.  Writing helps but for me i run.  Running for me is just as natural as work or something you do everyday.  I wouldn't stop running even if my life was depending on it.  I can't it's to important.  I thought to talk today instead of posting more of my story or poems.  I would love for people to comment on my stuff it would help:).  I love advice and if your looking for some I could give some out to.  My blog is all about my writing and how it helps to get feelings out through it.

Elizabeth Comes Back to a Sheriff--Chapter 1 continued

When Liz looked up and saw who was standing just twelve feet away, she paniked and started to get her things together. Richie helped and said "Hey girl haven't seen you in a while, where have you been?" Liz smiled at hi and said "I was aat my aunt and uncle's rach in Tennessee. I'd never move to the city with gandma and grandad."
Liz's mind was racing while she introdused Richie to Collin. Richie took to getting the bags and started to haul them. "Rich I can get a couple" Liz said. Richie shook his head. "It's alright Liz. I've got 'em." Liz smiled and figured a woma had gotten a hold of him, since he was acting like a real gentleman. Richie was thr youngest and wildest of the three boys. When someone cleared their throat Liz got stiff. She knew who it was without turning around. There was no exscaping it. "Collin this is James, James this is my son Collin."
***
James saw the tension in Liz's eyes, like she couldn't stand to be near him, but she had the right. James had walked away before, but he had changed and he wanted to show her that.  James is head of police in his small town.  James would show her and make her want him again somehow.  To James's surprise Liz introduced her son to him.  "Hi Mr. James."  Collind said.
James smiled. Liz had taught the boy manners, which James knew were very important to Liz.  "Hi Collin. Call me James not Mr. James, it makes me sound old."  Collin laughed, but Liz didn't look happy.  "Hey Liz." James said sort of shly.  He didn't want to make the woman mad by making her son laugh.  James wanted to see her smile, that smile that make him fall in love with her all over again.  James shook his head to get rid of the memory before it came.

Liz couldn't believe Collin had taken tight to James.  It made her blood boil with anger.  James led them to the truck where Richie was finished putting their luggage into the back.  Liz and Collin sat in the back of the cab.  She was lost and couldn't figure a way to get far from James.  Liz always knew she would regret hiding who Collin's father was and now it was worse.  She was in the same town as him and better yet the same vehicle.
Liz about groaned out loud, but caught it in her throat.  It was a huge mess. A huge mess... is not what she needed right now.  She looked up at the passing scenery and loved every part of it.  Liz was glad to be back, but hated some memories that came with every passing second.  One memory she loved was when she was around eight.
Liz was learning to ride on her grandma's favorite horse, Rocket.  Liz would get Rocket to
trot or to turn and everyone would clap.
The memory made Liz smile, it was one of her favorites right after the day she met James.  She shook her head as if she didn't want to remember that fateful day.
                                                                       ***
James couldn't stand it.  The woman he loved was in the back seat of his brother's truck with a son!  James just couldn't wrap his mind around it.  He loved Liz, but she's probably with another man.  The thought made him sick.  Then James thought about her ring finger.
I didn't see a ring, but it could be in the shop.
James looked and saw no white ring where it would be if she had had a ring on not to long ago.  He was hopeing that she was single, he wanted to show her that he had changed and had become every woman's dream or at least that's what Old Ella says.  Everytime he sees her she says he should move on, but he would shake his  head and say "There's only one woman who could have me."  Ella wouldn't push to hard though.
                                                                      ***
Richie started conversation.  He could tell there was a lot of tension in the cab and he probably should've told James Liz was coming back earlier, but he wanted the reunion to be a happy one.  Whatever James had done to Liz was really hurt her.

Sunset

What colors do you see?
Pink, orange, red
All together when the sun goes down

It all reminds me of the love I once had
He had blue eyes and red hair
He had true beauty inside
He wasn't a jerk
He was a romantic fool
Who set picnics out to watch
The sunset....

Pink, orange, and red
All in the sunset...
Amazing colors...
They remind me of you

Beauty

What is beauty?
Is it how we feel
Or how we look?

To me beauty is every where
It's life forms
It's not the way something looks
No matter how we look
We depend on how we feel

True beauty is somethin we hold
We are beautifl all of us
True beauty is what we need

Alone or Lost

Lost so deeply
Can it be alright
To walk around
In this horrible spot

It's so dark and so wide
It's full of nothing
Nothing...
Can it be I feel that way?
Can I feel lost
Can't I find my soul
Why is it I feel this way

Am I lost
Or am I alone
Alone...

It's so sadening to be in such a dark place
Alone or lost
What is the difference?
To me there isn't one

Elizabeth Comes Back to a Sheriff--Chapter 1

Memories of when Liz was a kid floated back to her when she got off the plane. She wasn't big on planes, in fact she didn't like anything that brought her back other than her grandma. Her mind was brought back into the present, when her five year old pointed to some food and said "Can we eat?" She nodded when her stomach growled loud enough for the whole town to hear.

Liz ate fast with her son, Collin. Liz was hoping she wouldn't run into the boy's father, because they had broken up before she knew she was pregnant. Liz knew it wasn't right to keep a father in the shadows, but she didn't want to share Collin. Liz knew who was picking them up, but she didn't know he was bringing someone along.

"Hey, do you wanna take a break and come with me to get a friend from the air port?" Richie asked his brother. "Is this a lady friend?" James snorted. Richie always had girls it was hard to believe he was settling down. James's heart was reserved for one woman, even though she'll never come back thanks to her parent's death, grandmother's death, and what he did to her.

Richie shook his head. "Nah took a long break fro that. this is just a friend." James stopped what he was doing and went to his brother's truck and sat quietly, going back to the one woman who stole his heart round five or six years ago. He didn't come back down to earth until they got to the air port. He followed his brother, but stopped dead in his tracks to find the woman he loved so much with a son!

Elizabeth Comes Back to Her Sheriff--Prologue

Fear...that's  what I felt when I heard he was released, it scared me so much. I knew he would be coming, but I didn't know he would dump me in what used to be my family's long since dried up creek. There was no way out and he had shot me in the leg. There was blood and dirt one moment, and the next complete and utter black. My thoughts flew away and I heard nothing. It was horrible, so horrible I wanted to scream, yell, and cry all at once, but not a sound came.
